For Ryan Samson, an attic, garage or storage shed can be a historical gold mine.

“It’s funny because what a lot of people think is junk is actually things that other people are looking for and what they bring out (to show me) aren’t always the best things,” he says.

Under the banner of The Fox Point Picker, Samson buys and sells antiques he finds from around the province. He originally started it as a hobby, before turning it into a business in 2018.

“I kind of started collecting things as a kid, like sports cards and different things like that. Then I started buying things and then kind of discarding the things that I didn’t really love, trading things and just kind of moving things around,” he says.
